Lauren Helm, Ph.D.

Licensed Psychologist in Washington and Oregon state

Welcome! I am Dr. Lauren Helm, a clinical psychologist licensed in Oregon and Washington state, and the founder of Rise Psychology, my private practice. I work with adults, and provide individual psychotherapy. I specialize in working with anxiety, worry, stress, panic attacks, indecision, uncertainty, perfectionism, and low self-esteem. I have extensive training in evidence-based treatment for anxiety & related disorders, including generalized anxiety disorder, social anxiety disorder, panic disorder, agoraphobia, phobias, and OCD. I also love working with clients who are interested in personal growth/development, and who want to improve the quality of their lives. Ultimately, I am passionate about assisting you in developing a deeply meaningful and authentic way of living.

APPROACH: I believe in effective, transformative therapy. My treatment approaches and areas of expertise include Acceptance & Commitment Therapy (ACT), Unified Protocol Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (UP CBT), Mindful Self-Compassion (MSC), and Exposure Therapy (ERP & PE). My academic and clinical training has also centered on the mind-body connection, mindfulness and acceptance-based interventions, self-compassion, emotion regulation, and interpersonal effectiveness. Empirically-supported psychological theories (social psychology, behavioral psychology, health psychology, evolutionary psychology & positive psychology) further inform the direction of therapy to help promote psychological resilience and well-being. If you'd like to learn more, please don’t hesitate to reach out.

TRAINING: I obtained my bachelor's degree in Psychology & Social Behavior from University of California, Irvine, graduating with honors cum laude in 2009, and in 2016, earned my Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology (with an emphasis in health psychology) from the APA-accredited California School of Professional Psychology at Alliant International University, San Diego. I have received specialized academic and clinical training in health psychology, mindfulness, self-compassion, and evidence-based third-wave behavioral treatments.
